West Mahanoy code officer to resign

SHENANDOAH HEIGHTS – West Mahanoy Township’s code enforcement officer is resigning at the end of this month, citing health reasons.
Township supervisors voted Tuesday night to accept the resignation of Mark Pronio, effective May 30.
Supervisor Michael Kayes thanked Pronio for “really turning the township around while he was here.”
“You really worked,” Supervisors Chairman Paul “Pepper” Martin said. “You taught me a lot, that we didn’t know what a code officer really could do. Now we do know.”
Pronio made a name for himself through an aggressive approach in dealing with blight in Shenandoah borough before taking the job with West Mahanoy Township.
He said he will help train his replacement, who will be part-time.
