West Arlington property collapses further, leans on neighboring home

SHENANDOAH – A collapsing west end apartment building has deteriorated further, and is now leaning on the home next door.

Shenandoah Fire was called to 527-529 West Arlington Street around 4:00pm today for a report of a structural collapse.

Fire officials arrived to find the building, which had suffered a partial collapse in August of 2018, was now leaning on a home at 531 West Arlington.

The borough was contacted and advised of the situation, and an emergency demolition may be undertaken.

The building was submitted to the county’s demolition program in June of 2019, and the borough acquired it in October.
