WELCOME HOME, PARKER: Community comes together as injured boy continues recovery at home
KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - A Ryan Township fire engine displays a banner reading "Welcome Home, Parker" as a parade leads Parker Brode home on Sept. 30, 2025.
BARNESVILLE – Almost six months after an ATV crash, a six-year-old boy is home and he had a whole community with him.
Led by a Ryan Township Fire Co. SUV and immediately followed by a Ryan Township fire engine bearing a banner reading “Welcome Home, Parker,” Parker Brode and his family returned to their Barnesville home Tuesday.
For Parker, it was a return six months in the making.
In April, he was seriously injured in an ATV crash and has been recovering since.

Brode’s family and hometown firefighters weren’t the only ones accompanying him on his ride home.
Firefighters and emergency services from Delano, Mahanoy City, Tamaqua, Hometown, and more, as well as community members, joined in, too.
Along the route, signs and banners also heralded his return.
