Watch upgraded to Red Flag Warning for area

SHENANDOAH – Our area is now under a Red Flag Warning, meaning critical fire weather conditions are either occurring or are imminent.

The National Weather Services respective offices in State College, Binghamton, and Mount Holly upgraded the original fire weather watches to Red Flag Warnings for every county in our area Tuesday morning.

The Red Flag Warning is in effect until 8pm Tuesday night.

A combination of temperatures in the mid 70s, northwest winds at 10 to 15mph, gusting to 25 mph, and humidity as low as 25 percent have created critical fire conditions, the weather service said.

The weather service also said there is a chance of dry lightning — lighting from a thunderstorm producing little to no rain — which could spark brush fires.

Outdoor burning is not recommended today, and, as always, it is prohibited entirely in Shenandoah borough.
