WARN Notice: Newbold laying off nearly 300 workers in Hazleton, elsewhere
HUMBOLDT – Nearly 300 workers across eight facilities — including one in the Humboldt Industrial Park — will be laid off come March, according to a notice filed with the state.
Newbold Services LLC filed a Work Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry regarding the layoffs.
The company, which provides janitorial, staffing, security, and other facility support services, said 294 people will be laid off effective March 5.
Those layoffs are spread across eight Amazon facilities in eastern Pennsylvania and come after the online retail giant declined to renew their contract with Newbold.
One of those facilities is the Amazon AVP1 warehouse at 550 Oak Ridge Road in the Humboldt Industrial Park.
The other facilities are in the Lehigh Valley and Carlisle areas.
