Wanted man found in vacant Ashland home, charged
ASHLAND – A man wanted on two warrants was arrested yesterday in this borough after he was found unconscious in a vacant residence.
Ashland Police said they were called to the 100 block of Chestnut Street yesterday for an EMS call.
There, they found Michael Bechtel, 28, with no known address, unconscious in a bedroom of the vacant home. A small fire was found in a roasting pot elsewhere in the home.
EMS treated the man and released him to police custody. Bechtel was wanted on two separate warrants stemming from two other trespassing incidents in the borough.
On February 22, police said he was charged for entering an occupied residence through a rear window of a home in the 400 block of Centre and fleeing. On March 14, he was charged with entering a vacant residence in the 300 block of Centre the same way and fleeing.
Bechtel was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Christina Hale and committed to Schuylkill County Prison on $50,000 bail for the two warrants, and more charges will be filed for Sunday’s incident, police said.
