VIDEO: North Gilbert home raided, borough man facing felony drug, gun charges
SHENANDOAH – Nearly three dozen State Police tactical troopers, clad in camouflage and alongside an armored Bearcat vehicle, descended upon a west end row home at dawn Friday morning.
Those troopers, members of the State Police Special Emergency Response Team, were conducting a search warrant on 28 North Gilbert Street, the home of 33-year-old Mark Ryan Dabney.
Dabney is in Schuylkill County Prison, unable to post $150,000 bail, and facing felony drug and gun charges.
According to the criminal complaint filed by Trooper Russ Rothermel of the State Police Troop L Vice/Narcotics Unit, troopers found over 150 grams of fentanyl and 480 grams of methamphetamine in Friday morning’s search. The street value of those drugs are in excess of $19,200 and $24,250 respectively.
Additionally, troopers found a shotgun, a 9mm pistol, “numerous items of drug paraphernalia, including, but not limited to, digital scales, narcotics loading devices, and bulk packaging material,” as well as a drug ledger sheet and $1,600 in cash.
Dabney was present at the time of the search and questioned by troopers, and they said Dabney directed him to “all items of contraband,” noting that they were all his, and his wife was not involved.
Rothermel wrote that Dabney said he had been selling drugs to support his family, serving between 40 and 50 customers. He said he could not find or keep a job due to his criminal history.
Having been convicted of robbery in 2011, Dabney is not permitted to possess a firearm, to which troopers said he knew, but he had the two weapons “for his personal protection.”
Troopers said the suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine was field tested, confirming the presence of both drugs.
Dabney was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli on two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver, two felony counts of illegal possession of a firearm, two misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance, and one felony count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
