Vacant east end home burns on S. Grant

SHENANDOAH – No injuries were reported after a vacant home burned on South Grant Street early Thursday morning.
Firefighters from Shenandoah, Mahanoy City, and Frackville were called to the unit block of South Grant around 1:45am for a reported fire.
Flames enveloped the second floor of 4 South Grant as crews were arriving, blanketing the east end with smoke. The glow from the blaze could be seen several blocks away.

Shenandoah Fire Chief Rick Examitas said the home was vacant and no injuries were reported. He said a State Police fire marshal will be on scene later Thursday to determine a cause.
The fire was contained to the single home at 4 South Grant.
Responding were firefighters from Shenandoah’s five fire companies along with Mahanoy City’s West End and Frackville, along with Shenandoah Ambulance, Shenandoah Fire Police, and Shenandoah Police.
