KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - Union Township Supervisors look over the barn at the municipal complex on June 10, 2025. Supervisors voted to seek bids for roof and siding repairs. From L-R: Jeff Ambrose, Jeremy Rhoads, and Dave Briggs.

RINGTOWN – A barn at the Union Township municipal complex could soon have a new roof and siding as township supervisors moved to seek bids for the maintenance project.

Township supervisors voted on the matter at Tuesday night’s meeting.

The township has been discussing the possibility of the project for over a year.

Jennifer Kowalonek, an engineer with Alfred Benesch and Co., outlined the bid process, noting they will be advertised by PennBid.

Solicitor Bob Matta said there were concerns the roof couldn’t last another winter.

Kowalonek said the bids would be back within a month.

The barn is the last remnant of the old Catawissa Valley Fairgrounds, which held the Ringtown Fair just before the turn of the 20th Century.

For years, it has hosted a haunted house fundraiser.
