Two injured in Pottsy Hill crash

MAHANOY TWP. – Two people were taken to local hospitals after a rollover crash on the Pottsy Hill outside Mahanoy City Saturday night.

The crash happened around 11:30pm Saturday as Edward Wilner, 30, of Mahanoy City was headed south on the Pottsy in a 2005 Chevy Tahoe.

State Police at Frackville said Wilner lost control of the vehicle on an ice coated roadway as he made negotiated a left-hand turn.

Wilner’s Tahoe left the west side of the roadway, striking trees and rolling over, coming to a rest 30 feet down an embankment.

Wilner was uninjured, though passengers Beatrice Perez, 27, of Delano, and Danielle Miller, 27, of Mahanoy City, suffered minor injuries and were transported to local hospitals by Mahanoy City and Shenandoah EMS respectively.

Wilner will be cited for failing to drive within his lane, troopers said.

Also responding to the scene was Mahanoy City’s West End Fire Co. and Mahanoy City Fire Police.
