Two firms drop out of MABS final audit; borough moves to dissolve authority

SHENANDOAH – The borough is seeking another firm to complete the final audit of the Municipal Authority of the Borough of Shenandoah after the first two hired for the task withdrew.

Council President Joe Boris said the most recent firm withdrew due to the lack of minutes outlining actions taken by the borough in its final year.

The firm committed to assisting in a transition to a new auditor or firm.

Boris said he and Borough Manager Tony Sajone could not locate minutes from anyone involved in MABS, including board members, the solicitor, and the engineer.

In other business, Solicitor Shane Hobbs said that he believed the borough should move forward with dissolving the authority soon.

After a brief discussion, council voted to advertise an ordinance to dissolve the authority which passed unanimously.
