Two firefighters injured at scene of Humboldt crash
HUMBOLDT, Luzerne County – Two Hazle Township firefighters were injured when a vehicle struck their vehicle as they arrived at another crash.
The original crash, a reported accident with possible entrapment, happened around 7:30am Friday on Route 924 near Oak Ridge Road, the Hazle Township Fire Co. said in a release.
As two firefighters — Chief Scott Kostician and an unnamed firefighter — arrived in the fire company’s Chevy SUV. When they were about to get out and assess the scene, another vehicle struck theirs in the rear.
Both firefighters suffered minor injuries and were treated at a local hospital. The other driver was uninjured.
State Police are investigating the crash.
One person was injured in the original crash and taken to a local hospital. No further information was released regarding that incident.
Valley Regional and Greater Hazleton Ambulance assisted at the scene.
