VALLEY VIEW – A home is damaged and its two occupants are displaced after a fire in this Hegins Township village Sunday evening.

Firefighters from across the county’s west end were called to the 1200 block of West Main Street around 5:30pm for a reported house fire.

Hegins Valley Fire Chief Chad Richards said the fire started in a first floor bedroom at 1242 West Main, and that crews were able to contain the fire to that room in about 20 minutes.

“A lot of smoke and water damage, not a lot of heat and fire damage,” Richards said of the home.

Fire companies from as far as Millersburg and Gratz in Dauphin County assisted local crews from Hegins Valley, Pine Grove, Sacramento, Pitman, Donaldson, Tremont, Pottsville, and Englewood.

Williamstown EMS responded with their rehab unit, setting up in the parking lot of the Dollar General.
