Truck brings down pole, wires, closing Route 61 in Frackville for hours

FRACKVILLE – The clean-up remains underway after authorities say a tractor trailer downed a utility pole, creating a chain reaction of property damage that left Route 61 closed for part of Thursday.
The incident happened in the 400 block of South Lehigh Avenue Thursday afternoon.
Fire Chief William Lindenmuth told the Sentinel at the scene that a tractor trailer struck a utility pole, causing the incident.
The utility pole could be seen severed outside of recently-condemned properties where demolition was underway.
Power and telecommunication lines were brought down onto light poles and the sign for the former Rite Aid, damaging both.
Route 61 was down to one lane initially as firefighters directed traffic. The highway was closed for a time with a detour in place for cars. Trucks were advised to avoid the area.
No injuries were reported. Utility crews were still working on repairs as of 12:30am.
