PATTERSONVILLE – A Ringtown man was taken to a Pottsville Hospital after crashing his car in Pattersonville after he lost consciousness several times.
The crash occurred around 1:30pm today on Ringtown Boulevard between the scenic view and Ringtown.
According to State Police at Frackville, David Houser, 55, of Ringtown, was travelling on Ringtown Boulevard near the intersection with PA Route 924 in a 2004 Saturn Ion, headed towards Pattersonville.
State troopers suspect Houser was under the influence of “some type of intoxicating substance,” and began to lose consciousness, and his Ion went off the northbound side of the road, striking an embankment which ripped the muffler and bumper off the car.
The vehicle re-entered the roadway and continued, then Houser began to lose consciousness again. The vehicle crossed both lanes, entered the grassy roadside and nearly struck an oncoming vehicle. The vehicle then swerved back onto the road and continued.
In Pattersonville, Houser lost consciousness a third time, troopers said, and drifted off the northbound lanes again, downing the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall’s mailbox and striking a home’s fencing before coming to a stop.
Houser was revived at the scene by medics, and taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital – Schuylkill – East Norwegian Street in Pottsville, and his Saturn was towed from the scene.
Charges will be filed based on tests being conducted, troopers said.
