Troopers investigating interstate hit-and-run
HIGHRIDGE – State troopers are seeking a driver involved in a hit-and-run on the interstate Monday and any witnesses who may have seen it.
The crash happened around 6:30pm on Interstate 81 Southbound near milepost 118.9 in Cass Township, according to the State Police at Frackville.
Troopers said a 2004 Honda Civic, driven by 31-year-old Ambar Del Carmen of Hazleton, was struck from behind by a car, believed to be a white Ford Focus driven by a man. Del Carmen was taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries.
The impact sent the Civic off the highway and into the woodlands.
The driver of the other vehicle initially stopped before fleeing southbound on I-81, troopers said.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call State Police at Frackville at 570-874-5300 and ask for Trooper Adam Sajone.
