Transformer fire closes 300 block of West Oak

UPDATE | 12:18am — The roadway has reopened, and the damaged equipment has been repaired.

SHENANDOAH – The 300 block of West Oak Street is closed as of 11:30pm and 13 people are reportedly without power after a piece of electrical equipment tied to a transformer caught fire Saturday evening.

Shenandoah firefighters were called to the area of 326 West Oak Street around 10:39pm for reports of a transformer fire.

A Shenandoah Police officer and fire marshals arrived on scene to find a piece of equipment tied to the transformer was burning out.

Responding units were cancelled en route as Shenandoah’s Rescue Hook and Ladder Squrt 64-20 closed the roadway.

PP&L was requested to the scene, and, as of 11:30pm, firefighters remained at the scene.

According to PP&L’s outage map, 13 customers are impacted by the outage, and a repair is expected by 2:30am.
