RAVEN RUN – West Mahanoy Township and Shenandoah firefighters, aided by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, responded to a brush fire near the Municipal Authority office in Raven Run Monday evening.
Firefighters from West Mahanoy Township’s three fire companies — Shenandoah Heights, William Penn, and Altamont — were dispatched to the MABS office around 7:00pm for the brush fire.

In short order, DCNR forestry crews and Shenandoah’s Columbia and Rescue Hook and Ladder companies were added to the call.
Just after 8:00pm, Columbia and Altamont were cleared from the scene, while others remained, dousing hotspots along the Locust Mountain hillside above William Penn.
