Three homes damaged by fire in Frackville

FRACKVILLE – Three homes sustained some sort of damage Tuesday afternoon here.

Firefighters were called to the 300 block of South Broad Mountain Avenue around 2:40pm for a reported house fire.

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL – Extensive damage is seen at the rear of three homes on South Broad Mountain Avenue in Frackvill.

A Butler Township fire chief arrived shortly after dispatch and found heavy smoke coming from a duplex at 335-337 South Broad Mountain and shortly after, flames escaped from a kitchen window and began to overtake the rear of the home.

The fire was brought under control in about an hour, and, according to reports on the scene, everyone got out of the homes safely.

Extensive damage was evident to homes at 335 and 337 South Broad Mountain, and a home at 339 also sustained damage at the rear of the home.

Firefighters from Frackville, Altamont, Englewood, Mahanoy City, and Shenandoah responded to the scene along with Shenandoah Ambulance and Frackville Police.
