SV senior refurbishes breaker boy statue
SHENANDOAH – A Shenandoah Valley High School senior helped refurbish a breaker boy statue, regularly displayed in downtown Shenandoah.
Jacob Coolbaugh, is shown above with his Art teacher Mrs. Jennifer Zemek putting the finishing touches on a statue of a breaker boy that belonged to John Catizone, a local historian and barber.
The statue was part of the coal collection that was displayed in the window of the Catizone barber shop on North Main Street.
The statue had been damaged and needed repair.
Coolbaugh, who is president of the Shenandoah Valley National Arts Society made the necessary repairs and refurbished the figure.
This is only one of several projects that will be undertaken and required by the SVNAS.
