KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - Two street lights are seen downed in the street on June 7, 2024.

ASHLAND – A pair of street lights came crashing down Friday afternoon in downtown Ashland, closing the thoroughfare for several hours.

The lights fell around 4pm in the 900 block of Centre Street.

No injuries were reported, though it took several hours for PPL crews to clean up the scene.

In the interim, firefighters from Ashland and Lavelle directed traffic around the area.

The lights reportedly rusted at the base and collapsed. They were first installed in the 1960s.
