State troopers investigate fatal Interstate 81 crash
FRACKVILLE – State troopers are investigating a fatal crash on Interstate 81 near Frackville.
The crash happened around 2:30pm on Interstate 81 Northbound near milepost 119.4, about five miles south of the Frackville exit.
State Police at Frackville said Esau Foster, 81, of Kingston, was headed north on I-81 in a 2013 GMC Acadia.
Troopers said he was driving between both lanes and struck the rear driver’s side tire of a 1992 Kenworth tractor-trailer in the right lane, driven by an Ohio man.
Foster’s vehicle came to a rest in the median and he was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital – Schuylkill – East Norwegian Street before being transferred via air medical to Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest near Allentown.
He was wearing his seatbelt, troopers said.
