State Police provide update on East Union crash

EAST UNION TOWNSHIP – State troopers have released further information on a crash in the valley where someone had to be rescued from the car.

The crash happened on Rattlin Run Road near Rattlin Run itself around 2:30pm Wednesday.

Daniel Sykes, 27, of Chalfont, was backing a Peterbilt truck into a siding off the road to unload equipment for a PennDOT bridge replacement project. He had both lanes blocked.

Tanner Snyder, 24, of Ringtown, was coming the opposite way around a corner in a 2008 Chevrolet Impala and struck the truck then an embankment, rolling the sedan onto its side.

Snyder and 25-year-old Allyson Clark, of Mahanoy City, were able to free themselves from the vehicle.

Ranee Hauze, 44, of Ringtown, had to be rescued by Mahanoy City and Sheppton-Oneida firefighters. She was taken to a Hazleton hospital by Frackville Ambulance.

Initial reports from the scene originally indicated the driver had been rescued, though Hauze was a rear passenger. No one in the Impala was wearing a seatbelt.

Sykes will be cited for the crash, troopers said.

Clark was taken into custody by State Police on unrelated warrants and subsequently released.
