State Police announces sobriety checkpoint in Columbia Co.
BLOOMSBURG – The Pennsylvania State Police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in Columbia County this coming weekend, troopers announced Monday.
The checkpoint will be within the patrol area of the State Police Bloomsburg barracks, which covers the entirety of Columbia County on Saturday, August 26 through Sunday, August 27, according to a press release.
The checkpoint is part of the department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Against Drunk Driving initiative, or STEAD-D.
Troopers say the program is “designed to affect a reduction of alcohol related traffic crashes using sobriety checkpoints on a regular basis.”
