Sheppton man killed in motorcycle crash
SHEPPTON – A Sheppton man was identified as the victim of Sunday’s fatal motorcycle accident in this East Union Township village.
The crash happened just before noon on Route 924 between Schoolhouse Road and Chapel Road.
Ivan Acevedo, 28, of Sheppton was headed northbound on a motorcycle when he struch an ATV head-on, according to Deputy Coroner Andrew Szczyglak.
Szczyglak pronounced Acevedo dead at the scene at 12:40pm, he said.
The driver of the ATV was injured and transported to a local hospital, and the passenger was uninjured, he added.
Route 924 between Schoolhouse Road and Chapel Road was closed for several hours while state troopers investigated the crash.
Sheppton-Oneida firefighters responded to the scene, with the assistance of Nuremberg-Weston fire police for traffic control.
