SHENANDOAH – The only one of Shenandoah’s own that played on the 1925 Pottsville Maroons squad was recognized Tuesday.

Frank “Champ” Racis was the only player from Shenandoah on the football team that won the 1925 National Football League championship, until a technicality led to it being stripped.

A Sons of Shenandoah banner was made to honor Racis at the Greater Shenandoah Area Historical Society, and it was unveiled Saturday with two members of the Racis family: daughter-in-law Mary Ellen Racis and nephew Bob Racis.
