Shenandoah Valley student achievements recognized
SHENANDOAH – Shenandoah Valley students are representing the district on various stages, and Superintendent Brian Waite took time Wednesday night to recognize their efforts.
During the superintendent’s report at Wednesday night’s school board meeting, he recognized the district’s male and female scholar athletes, Alex Kozlosky and Ava Menjivar.
Kozlosky was recently recognized at a banquet and Menjivar will be recognized in April.
Saturday, three Shenandoah students will compete in the regional spelling bee: Savannah Carduff, Gianna Donovan, and Alivia Kroh.
“We wish them the best of L.U.C.K.,” Waite said.
Three Shenandoah Valley and Members participated in the 31st Annual Susquehanna University Honors Band Concert held on Feb. 18, Toby Gudinas (Alto Saxophone), Valeria Hernandez (Alto Saxophone), and Jesus Paniagua Perez (Tenor Saxophone).
Meanwhile, at the Schuylkill Technology Center, Shenandoah Valley junior George Lopez Vasquez is set to represent Schuylkill County on the national stage.
Schuylkill Technology Center Marketing & Business Administration Students competed at the Statewide DECA Competition in Hershey this past week and Lopez Vasquez placed and will be representing STC at the National Competition in Anaheim, Calif.
DECA, Waite says, offers a multitude of competitive opportunities for high school students interested in business, finance, marketing, and hospitality. DECA’s industry-validated competitive events are aligned with the National Curriculum Standards in the career clusters of marketing, business management and administration, finance, and hospitality and tourism.
