SHENANDOAH – Shenandoah Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident in which a green Mercedes struck a pickup truck broadside and fled the scene.
The accident occurred just before 3:30pm Wednesday at Gilbert and West Centre Streets in the borough.
According to Shenandoah Police, a gold Dodge pickup truck was travelling eastbound on Centre Street when a forest green Mercedes four-door, travelling northbound from South Gilbert Street, entered Centre Street, striking the pickup.
The pickup attempted to avoid the Mercedes, though an impact to the passenger compartment sent the truck into a parked Jeep.
The Mercedes suffered front-end damage, losing portions of its grill and its license plate holder. Leaking fluids, the Mercedes fled northbound on Gilbert Street to West Coal, where it made a left, and from there, it is not known where the vehicle went.
Traffic was down to one lane as the incident was investigated, and no injuries were reported. The pickup was able to be driven away, while the Jeep was towed by Steve’s Towing, of Shenandoah.
If anyone spots the Mercedes, with front end damage, they are asked to contact Shenandoah Police.
