Shenandoah man escapes injury in crash near Hazleton
HAZLETON – A Shenandoah man and a Hazleton woman were unharmed in a two-car crash near this city early Sunday morning.
State Police at Hazleton said the crash happened around 3:30am on the CANDO Expressway near South Broad Street.
Troopers said Esmeralda Velasquez, 42, of Hazleton, was headed east on the expressway towards Hazleton in a 2012 BMW 535 Series when a deer entered the roadway.
Luis Ramos, 27, of Shenandoah, was following behind in a 2012 Honda Accord.
A deer entered the road and was struck by Velasquez. Ramos swerved to avoid hitting Velasquez’s vehicle and struck a guiderail.
Neither driver was injured, but both vehicles were disabled.
