Shenandoah man dies in Interstate 81 crash
DELANO – A Shenandoah man is dead after a three vehicle crash on Interstate 81 Friday afternoon.
Danyel Miller, 25, of town, was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash on Interstate 81 southbound in Delano Township, State Police at Frackville said.
The crash happened just before 6pm near milepost 135.5.
According to troopers, Miller was driving a 2016 Audi Q5 when it was struck by another car, losing control and rolling in the median.
Troopers said the crash happened as a tractor trailer, driven by Charvel Prophete, 42, of Columbus, Ohio, and a 2024 Honda Civic, driven by Rafael Ceballos, 28, of Hazleton, were driving in the right lane on I-81 southbound and Miller was in the left lane, passing both.
Another vehicle was in the right lane and troopers said Ceballos passed that vehicle on the right shoulder, striking the tractor trailer and then Miller’s vehicle.
Ceballos’ vehicle was disabled in the crash. He and Prophete sustained minor injuries and were taken to area hospitals in Hazleton and Pottsville.
Miller was pronounced dead at the scene by the Schuylkill County Coroner’s Office.
The crash remains under investigation, troopers said.
