Shenandoah, Girardville, Ringtown fire companies receive federal grant for equipment
SHENANDOAH – Firefighters in northern Schuylkill County will soon have brand new air packs, thanks to a grant from the federal government.
The Girard Hose, Columbia Hose, and Ringtown Valley fire companies came together for a regional Assistance to Firefighters grant from FEMA.
They said the funds will go towards new Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) to replace aging units.
The new units will have modern features to keep firefighters safe.
It is a matching grant, so each fire company will have to pitch in, and each company will announce fundraising efforts in the near future.
