Shenandoah area fire companies receive water donation from beer giant, distributor

SHENANDOAH – Three area fire companies received pallets of water courtesy of a major brewer and their regional distributor in east-central Pennsylvania.
Edwin H. Kleckner, Inc., of Montandon, stopped by the Rescue Hook and Ladder Co. in Shenandoah, the William Penn Fire Co., and the Ringtown Valley Fire Co. recently to drop off the donations.
They’re on behalf of the distributor and Anheuser-Busch through a partnership with the National Volunteer Fire Council.
The program is in its seventh year, Anheuser-Busch says, which delivers 1.5 million cans of emergency drinking water to volunteer fire departments across the country.
“Anheuser-Busch’s continued commitment to supporting volunteer firefighters through emergency drinking water donations has made a meaningful impact,” said Sarah Lee, Chief Executive Officer of the NVFC. “Since our partnership began in 2019, over 10 million cans have gone directly to departments across the country. These donations not only help keep responders safe and hydrated during wildfires and long incidents but also provide vital cost savings that allow departments to allocate their limited budgets to other critical needs.”
Anheuser-Busch cans the water at their breweries and the donations, they say, helps volunteer departments focus their resources on other expenses and fire equipment.
