Shenandoah approves tentative 2025 budget with no tax increase
SHENANDOAH – Shenandoah Borough Council voted to approve the tentative 2025 budget with no tax increase, but the possibility of such remains.
The approval came at a special meeting last Tuesday.
The 2025 budget is at $3,091,989 for the general fund, $1,692,688.85 for sewer, and $186,000 for liquid fuels.
Borough Manager Tony Sajone said some numbers may need to be changed in the final budget for approval at the December council meeting.
While no real estate tax increase was presented Tuesday, Council President Joe Boris raised the idea of a $39 per year tax per tax receipt, which he said would bring in $128,700 if all taxes were paid.
“If we had to do millage on that, that would be 4.5 mills,” Boris said.
The borough has not raised taxes since 2016.
