Shenandoah approves addition of Nativity soccer co-op

SHENANDOAH – For many years, the only option for Shenandoah Valley students to play scholastic soccer was to don green and white through a co-op with Nativity BVM. Soon, that may reverse.
The Shenandoah Valley School Board approved a request for a co-op for boys and girls soccer with Nativity BVM.
Shenandoah has had a co-op agreement with Mahanoy Area since the program began in 2023, though Mahanoy has sent no players to date.
Between the closure of Cardinal Brennan and the formation of the Shenandoah Valley soccer program, Nativity received Shenandoah players through a co-op agreement.
Those players were frequently standouts in a powerhouse Hilltopper boys soccer team which won three Schuylkill League division titles in a row.
In other business, the district approved coaches for the two soccer teams for next season.
John Burke returns as boys’ head coach with assistants Jesus Chagolla, Felipe Gasca, and Zachary Pribish.
For the girls’, Joe Michalik takes over for Joe Bradley as head coach.
Michalik is also the school’s head softball coach.
