Shen. Valley receiving $2.2 Million in COVID-19 Emergency Relief grants
SHENANDOAH – The Shenandoah Valley School District is receiving $2.2 Million as part of the second round of Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund grants, Senator David G. Argall’s office announced today.
“I was very pleased to hear that the new stimulus bill provides this assistance to our schools districts,” Argall said in a media release. “Our children are our most valuable resource and ensuring that they have a safe and secure environment to learn in is of the utmost importance. This new funding will be an incredible asset as schools continue to grapple with the new reality that the COVID-19 pandemic has forced upon us all.”
The money received can be used for a variety of COVID-19 mitigation measures including purchasing cleaning supplies, coordinating operations for long-term closures, purchasing educational technology that supports students in need who are learning from home, and providing principals with the resources they need to keep their school running smoothly.
In the first round of grants, Shenandoah Valley received $547,227. This round, SV is receiving $2,246,568.
Mahanoy Area and North Schuylkill are also receiving sizable grants, $1,401,942 and $1,469,796 respectively. In the first round, they received $341,490 and $558,018 respectively.
