Shen. Valley board fills several positions at special meeting
SHENANDOAH – The Shenandoah Valley School District filled several open positions at a special school board meeting Wednesday.
Typically, the school board does not meet in July.
The board voted to approve hires for a new business teacher position, a secondary school counselor secretary, van drivers, among others.
Those hired were:
- Jennifer Bennett, elementary teacher, at a salary of $50,100;
- Laura Bisco, business teacher, $50,100;
- Jamie Houseknecht, elementary interventionist and district-wide test coordinator, $61,160;
- Kathleen Modico, secondary emotional support teacher;
- Angela Kulish, high school server/snack assistant;
- Alexandra Lora, third shift custodian;
- Tanya Martz, cafeteria;
- Kimberly Redicavage, elementary lunch aide;
- Nichole Schenk, elementary lunch aide;
- Amanda Karenda, secondary school counselor secretary;
- Thomas Salvadore, substitute van driver;
- Benjamin Skobel, van driver;
- Joseph Whalen, van driver;
- Richelle Zelinsky, van driver.
In other business, the board approved the second reading of several PSBA developed policies, letters rescinding employment for two hires, 2024-25 student accident insurance from Zurich Insurance at a cost of $9,894; and an agreement between the district and GSL Government Consulting. The board also retroactively approved a letter of resignation from third shift custodian Christine Mullecker.
