Shen. Nursing Student Elected to National Office
TAMAQUA – Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) second-year nursing student Jennifer Kalenkoski, Shenandoah, has been elected president of the National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA)., according to a press release issued by the college on Tuesday.
Kalenkoski was elected to the post at the 65th annual NSNA Convention, which took place April 5-9 in Dallas, Texas.
Kalenkoski currently serves as the president LCCC’s Student Nurses Association of PA chapter, and will serve a one-year term as president of the NSNA.
Kalenkoski will represent NSNA at the International Council of Nurses in Barcelona, Spain, at the end of May and at various other national organizations throughout the year.
Her duties, according to the press release, will include:
- Leading the association by presiding at all meetings
- Appoint committees and NSNA representatives
- Ensure that the lines of direction given by the House of Delegates and Board are put into effect
- Work closely with NSNA staff and board on all aspects of the organization
- Facilitate relations with school and state constituents and with other national organizations
Kalenkoski will graduate from LCCC in May, at which time she will begin a position at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, on the Medical Cardiology Progressive Care Unit. Beginning in Fall 2017, she will pursue her bachelor’s degree in nursing through Central Methodist University, Fayette, Mississippi.
