Sewer Authority chairman punches homeowner in scuffle while campaigning for council votes
SHENANDOAH – The chairman of the Shenandoah Municipal Sewer Authority is facing trespassing and harassment charges after borough police say he engaged in a scuffle with a homeowner while campaigning for borough council votes.
Robert Shumski, 76, of Turkey Run, was charged Thursday by Shenandoah Borough Police with misdemeanor defiant trespass and summary harassment.
According to Borough Police, Shumski was campaigning for borough council votes Wednesday in the 500 block of Furnace Street.
He visited a home, whose homeowner told Shumski to leave several times, police said. He didn’t, and began arguing with the homeowner, demanding to speak to another person inside the home.
The homeowner began to escort Shumski off the front porch and Shumski punched the homeowner in the face.
Shumski is awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 1.
