Second brush fire sparked at Mt. Carmel bank

MOUNT CARMEL, Northumberland County – Firefighters were back at a bank lot in downtown Mount Carmel Sunday afternoon after a brush fire sparked in the mulch for the second time.
Crews were called to the parking lot of UNB Bank at Third and Oak Streets around 6:00pm.

Flames sparked in mulch behind the bank, a short distance from where fire ripped through shrubs roughly two and a half hours prior.
Firefighters brought the fire under control in short order and soaked the entire mulch area to prevent a rekindle.
