Ringtown to re-advertise school for sale

RINGTOWN – The former educational hub of Ringtown is still for sale, and the borough will re-advertise for bids seeking a buyer.
The former Ringtown Area Elementary Center has sat vacant since 2009, when the North Schuylkill School District moved its valley students to Fountain Springs. The building reverted to borough ownership in 2010. Prior to the formation of the North Schuylkill School District, the building served as Ringtown’s high school.
Borough council voted unanimously Monday evening to re-advertise the property for bids, as required by Commonwealth law.
“It’s been off the tax rolls for many years,” said council president Julian Milewski. “We’ll sell the building, and get it back on the tax rolls.”
The borough previously advertised the property for sale, though no bid proposals were received.
“We just had it re-appraised, it came in at $100,000. We had two or three people look at it, but [received] no bid proposals on it,” Milewski added. “We’re going to re-advertise one more time. If nobody does then, we can negotiate a price on it.”
