Ringtown hears from part-time officer, seeks speed enforcement

RINGTOWN – Ringtown’s part-time police officer was on-hand at Monday’s borough council meeting, introducing himself to the board.
Patrolman Matt Williams, who also serves as chief in West Mahanoy Township, told council he plans to have written reports available for council meetings.
Council President Len Kamarousky lauded Williams for removing abandoned vehicles and sought more speed enforcement in town.
Councilman Jeff Blanchek said there are speeding issues on Center Street and sought a lower speed limit, which would need to be approved by PennDOT.
In other business, council is considering an amendment to the zoning ordinance to potentially restrict the construction of pole buildings in town. Solicitor Bob Matta is researching the issue.
Council also received an update on the planned water plant in Zion Grove.
Council also voted to set Trick-or-Treat night as Saturday, Nov. 1 from 6pm to 8pm.
