Ribbon cutting ceremony held for Frackville early learning center
FRACKVILLE – On the old railroad bed above Route 924 at the north end of Frackville is the realization of a dream for Holly Bindie and Jill Simons.
The two started a child care center — Sisters Early Learning Center — in 2018 in the Frackville municipal complex, the former high school, and it quickly grew and expanded.
“As thrilled as the ladies were to start their venture, they knew the space would not hold them for very long,” Robert Carl Jr., President of the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce, said. “They had to have a bigger vision. The sisters built a foundation with a great staff and amazing families who utilized and wanted their services.”
A combination of growth and the need for child care skyrocketing, the two purchased the former railroad bed on the east side of Route 924, where the railroad once crossed the highway and descended the Mahanoy Plane.
On that lot, they built a brand new building, which opened on April 24. That building is fronted on East Pine Street.
Frackville Borough Council President Ron Jordan, who is Bindie’s father-in-law, described the owners as “great tenants.”
“Unfortunately for the borough, we knew this day was going to come,” Jordan said. “They grew the business very well.”
The facility has the capacity for 130 children and is already at 100.
