BLOOMSBURG – The Bloomsburg Fair has a statewide economic impact of more than $80 Million, according to a state report studying county and local fairs.

It is the second most attended fair in the state with 351,000 annual visitors and one of the largest agricultural fairs in Pennsylvania.

“Fairs offer unique opportunities to experience local culture and traditions and make lasting family memories,” Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding said.” Fairs fill hotels and inns with visitors who spend in stores and restaurants and inject tourism dollars into hometown economies. Pennsylvania fairs present opportunities for our farmers to sell directly to visitors and compete for prizes that demonstrate the quality of their products and give their small businesses credibility and trust in the marketplace year-round.”

The eight-day fair began in 1855 and supports over 700 jobs, the report says.

Bloomsburg was one of six major fairs the report specifically detailed. It draws visitors from across Pennsylvania, and as far New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
