PSP: Woman who struck Mahanoy rehab center fell asleep, arrested for suspicion of DUI
MAHANOY CITY – A Mahanoy City woman was taken into custody under suspicion of DUI after state troopers say she fell asleep at the wheel and embedded her SUV in the side of a treatment center.
State Police at Frackville said the crash happened around midnight Monday.
A 41-year-old Mahanoy City woman, whose name has not been released, was headed west on East End Road in Mahanoy Township, towards Mahanoy City, in a 1999 Mercury Mountaineer.
Troopers said she fell asleep at the wheel and drove off the side of the road, into the Silver Pines Treatment Center.
No one was hurt in the crash, though the woman was evaluated by Ryan Township EMS.
The woman was taken into custody under suspicion of DUI.
Assisting State Police were Mahanoy City West End firefighters, Mahanoy City Police, Ryan Township EMS, and Steve’s Towing.
