PSP: Woman arrested for DUI in Locustdale after sparking threat response to Pottsville area school
LOCUSTDALE – A 40-year-old woman is in police custody after state troopers say they were notified she planned to pick up her daughter from a Pottsville school while armed.
Troopers from the Frackville barracks said the woman, who was not named, was located and stopped in Locustdale Wednesday afternoon.
They said they were seeking her after they received information that she “may have been armed with firearms and was intending to pick up her daughter from school in the Pottsville area.”
She was detained in Locustdale and showed signs of being under the influence of methamphetamine and was subsequently arrested for DUI.
She was then taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital – Schuylkill for a mental health evaluation.
No firearms were found in her possession.
Troopers did not identify the woman beyond her age and gender or the school which was threatened, though a police response earlier in the day centered around the Gillingham Charter School.
