PSP: Shenandoah woman runs stop sign, is struck by ambulance
NEW BOSTON – State troopers say a Shenandoah woman, stopped at a stop sign, crossed onto Morea Road without clearance, causing a crash with an ambulance.
The crash happened around 3pm July 30 at Morea Road and Mahanoy City Road in the New Boston section of Mahanoy Township.
According to the State Police at Frackville, Eunice Gutierrez Henriquez, 29, of Shenandoah, was headed south on Mahanoy City Road in a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze.
Troopers said she stopped for a stop sign and, without clearance, entered Mahanoy City Road as a Ryan Township Rescue Squad ambulance was headed east on Morea Road.
The ambulance, driven by 74-year-old Michael Mistishen, was knocked off the roadway and into a front porch on the south side of Morea Road.
Mistishen was able to bring the ambulance back around to where the Cruze had stopped to provide first aid for Gutierrez Henriquez and her four passengers.
Gutierrez Henriquez and two passengers were injured were taken to area hospitals, troopers said.
Mistishen was not injured.
Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Gutierrez Henriquez was cited for the crash, troopers said.
