PSP seeking info on, witnesses to Altamont truck crash

ALTAMONT – State Police at Frackville are asking anyone who may have seen, or knows anything about, what happened when a truck wrecked in this section of West Mahanoy Township Sunday.
State Police at Frackville said the crash happened around 2:30pm Sunday when a 2017 Freightliner Cascadia was headed southbound on Interstate 81 and entered the center median.
The tractor trailer crashed down the embankment between the overpass bridges at Altamont Boulevard, landing on the roadway below.
The truck struck utility lines with such force to shear poles two removed from the scene.
Two people were injured and flown to local trauma centers. A 54-year-old male driver was taken to Geisinger Medical Center and a 31-year-old female was taken to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest.
