PSP: Ringtown man drives pickup off repo tow truck
RINGTOWN – A Ringtown man is facing charges after state troopers say, as his truck was being repossessed, he drove it off the tow truck.
Charges were filed Tuesday against Robert Lawson, 65, of Ringtown, including felony criminal mischief and misdemeanor reckless endangerment.
According to the criminal complaint filed by Trooper Patrick McDonald of the State Police at Frackville, the incident took place in October at a home on Vine Street in Ringtown.
Troopers said a tow truck operator had a repossession order for Lawson’s 2018 Chevy Silverado, which he attempted to execute on Oct. 27.
The pickup truck was found in front of the home and was promptly hooked to the tow truck.
Lawson came outside and there was a brief confrontation, court documents allege, when Lawson shoved him in the arm.
The tow truck operator allowed Lawson to remove his belongings from the truck. While that occurred, a woman from the same home Lawson came out of moved a vehicle parked in front of the tow truck.
Lawson then allegedly got into the truck and drove it off the tow truck, damaging the lift. An estimate provided to PSP said the damage cost $15,001.45 to repair.
Both Lawson and the woman left.
Documents also state both the confrontation and the removal of the truck were caught on video.
Lawson has yet to be arraigned.
