PSP: Pottsville man broke into ex-wife’s home, assaulted her, her husband
DELANO – A Pottsville man is in Schuylkill County Prison after State Police say he broke into his ex-wife’s Delano home and struck her in the head with a wooden object Saturday.
Alexander Williams, 37, of 207 West Market Street, is facing multiple felony charges for the midnight break-in.
According to the criminal complaint filed by Trooper Joshua Yates in Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli’s courtroom, troopers were called to 205 Railroad Street around 12:45am for a reported burglary.
Troopers said they spoke with the homeowner who said she, her husband, and daughter were all sleeping when she’d seen a man standing over her, who then struck her in the head with a wooden object.
Her husband then began to wrestle with the man in an attempt to subdue him.
Her daughter suffered a bruise to the leg because of the scuffle.
Eventually, her husband chased the assailant from the home.
Using her door bell camera, she was able to identify the burglar as her ex-husband, Alexander Williams, who came through the back door.
Williams was accompanied by another man whom she did not know or recognize. That man never entered the home.
Williams is facing three counts of felony aggravated assault, a count each of felony burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary, three counts of misdemeanor reckless endangerment, two counts of misdemeanor terroristic threats, and one count of misdemeanor prowling.
He was arraigned Saturday by on-call Magisterial District Judge David Rossi and committed to Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $75,000 cash bail.
Williams is scheduled to appear in Tarantelli’s Frackville courtroom for a preliminary hearing on March 29.
