NORTHERN SCHUYLKILL – The following is a compilation of police incidents handled by the Pennsylvania State Police in and around northern Schuylkill County recently.

Gun stolen in Girardville

GIRARDVILLE – State Police at Frackville are investigating the theft of a firearm on A Street in this borough.

State Police at Frackville say someone swiped a black Marlin 22 caliber semi-automatic rifle between August 14 and Sept. 21.

Anyone with information is asked to contact State Police at Frackville at 570-874-5300.

Ashland man hits post, tree, flees, facing DUI charges

ASHLAND – A man from this borough is facing charges after State Police say hit hit a post, tree, and fled the scene.

State Police at Frackville said, just before 11:00pm, Edward Harter, 33, of Ashland, was headed eastbound on Centre Street in a 2008 Suzuki SX4.

Troopers say the SX4 left its lane of travel, crossing the westbound lane and striking a post and tree before driving away.

Troopers canvassed the neighborhood, finding the vehicle and matching a smashed piece left at the scene to the car.

Harter was found inside the home and arrested for DUI, troopers said.

Ashland man hits tree, suspected of DUI in Barnesville

BARNESVILLE – An Ashland man was taken into custody under suspicion of DUI after hitting a tree in rural Ryan Township.

The crash happened around 9:45pm Saturday on Barnesville Drive near Hartung Lane.

George Burns, 50, of Ashland was headed westbound on Barnesville Drive — Route 54 — when he drove off the north side of the roadway, struck a utility pole, then returned the roadway and continued for about 100 yards.

The 2016 Ford F150 he was driving suffered disabling damage, but Burns was uninjured.

Troopers said he was displaying signs of intoxication and was taken into custody, under suspicion of DUI.

Two from borough facing charges after traffic stops

SHENANDOAH – Two from the borough are facing charges after separate traffic stops Friday evening.

Troopers said around 6:45pm, they stopped a 2005 Chevy Avalanche on West Centre Street.

Troopers conducted a probable cause search, finding a controlled substance.

As a result, charges are pending against 45-year-old Erick Lauffer, of Shenandoah.

A few hours later, troopers stopped a 2020 Chevy in the area of West Oak and South Catherine Streets at 11:30pm.

Troopers stopped the vehicle for a traffic violation, and said the driver, 24-year-old Christian Ashby, was displaying signs of impairment.

Ashby was taken into custody under suspicion of DUI, and charges are pending.

Haven man accused of dumping trash in Blythe

BLYTHE TWP. – A Schuylkill Haven man is accused of dumping trash on Reading Anthracite property here.

Though the incident happened August 23, troopers released details Tuesday morning.

Troopers from the Frackville barracks said they received a report of a large amount of trash deposited on Reading Anthracite property on Burma Road near Firetower Road.

Following an investigation, Jesse Smith, 37, of Schuylkill Haven, was cited for scattering rubbish.

Ringtown woman accused of threatening Pottsville woman

FRIEDENSBURG – A Ringtown woman is facing a harassment charge after State Police at Schuylkill Haven say she threatened a 35-year-old Pottsville woman.

The incident happened around 8:45pm Friday, when troopers were called to the Frieden Manor development for a report of harassment.

Following an investigation, troopers said Ranee Hauze, 40, of Ringtown, had made threats toward the victim.

Harassment charges were filed.
